Csaba Filp

Exhibition date:
06 - 29 March 2003

Csaba Filp graduated at the Department of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in 2000. Since then he has been regularly participating in group and individual exhibitions and in foreign colony of artists.

The title of the exhibition: Delicacy refers to the topic of the pictures - table delicacies, titbit - and the picturesque delicacy characteristic of the paintings.

His paintings appearing to be fotorealist avoid applying medial art forms; they are results of careful still life shots. In his pictures of palm-size potato, kohlrabi, broccoli and orange get on well with piles of raw chicken legs waiting for being fried. Concealing the tables holding fruits and vegetables, applying various points of views within one picture are results of a deliberate playfulness. The pictures walk around traditional pictorial themes with all their properties and questions: still lives, vanitatum vanitas, elliptical forms, lighting effects and perspective. The topics are not only characteristic of a certain period; it is 0rather a consistent attitude for something. This creative attitude - possibly conventional for many people - makes the works exhibited authentic and unified at the same time. Still, Csaba Filp's pictures are influenced by cheerful irony - maybe a little unusually - since he paints explicit things expressly.
